Free Candy for Scouts on May 19th - The Dallas County Department of Health &

Human Services' Public Health Emergence Preparedness Division and the Dallas County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is hosting a Full-Scale POINT OF DISPENSING MASS PROPHYLAXIS EXERCISE at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas on Saturday, May 19th. For this exercise, they are testing the ability of county volunteers to rapidly administer medications to the Dallas community in the event of a public health emergency or biological terrorist event. In order to really test whether their dispensing plans will work, they need to have at least 500 people come through the dispensing clinic.
This is a great opportunity for Scouts to participate on May 19th in a two-hour emergency preparedness exercise. Emergency medical staff will be dispensing pieces of candy instead of medicine. Scouts can stop by anytime on Saturday, the 19th, from 10am-12pm at WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL, 100 South Glasgow Drive, Dallas Texas 75214. They will have certificates of participation on-site that Scouts can receive. Sign up today by emailing your name, the number of Scouts who will participate, and your telephone number to hhsinfo.hhsinfo@dallascounty.org. A parking pass will be emailed back to you prior to the event.

In January 2013 Circle Ten Council will celebrate its 100th anniversary

Dallas Council which was the predecessor of Circle Ten Council was founded in January of 1913. The council would like to celebrate our anniversary by holding one or more events across the council in 2013. We are asking each district to submit ideas which they believe would help expand the brand of Scouting and expose young men not already in the program to the fun and values of Scouting. We will even be changing the council strip to celebrate our anniversary.
Below are just some of the ideas which have been presented so far
* Historic Re-enactments
* Council wide theme for district camporees
* Shared events with Children’s Hospital
* Council wide day of service
* Parades
* Series of Historic Hikes
* Separate event for each Quarter
* An Ironman triathlon
* Joint event with the new Perot Museum of Natural Science
We would like to hear from you. What do you think would be a fun event that you would attend? It does not have to be a council wide event. It does not need to be a single event. We are looking for activities which you would want to attend. We have a deadline of April 4th to collect these ideas and make the final selections.
